Stacker and Mako: 'maybe... one day'

I have a metric ton of Stacker and Mako feelings and their relationship through the Pacific Rim universe. This was mostly inspired by this, which appeared on my dash around the time that my Pacific Rim obsession exploded full force. I recently read the graphic novel "Tales From Year Zero" and loved that the driving force for why they had initiated the Jaeger program was because of love.

And SPOILERS!
In the film, we saw very little of Stacker as a person and his background. As he said: "all i need to be to you, and everybody else on this station, is a fixed point: the last man standing." In the graphic novel, we see that he does what he does because it is for humanity, for his sister who bravely tried to help stop Trespasser on K-Day, for his co-pilot and friend who suffered from the radiation of the Jaegers. I love that he loves humanity despite his cool outer demeanor.

But canonically we know that he uses Mako as his reason for what drives him on: it's for his sister, for Tamsin, for humanity but it's all packaged in his personal work in progress, Mako.

Artistically, I noticed that in the graphic novel, Stacker and Mako always somehow matched. If Stacker had a purple dress shirt on, Mako would have a purple sweater, etc. So that's what I tried to do here despite the overwhelming color scheme. And also clearly Mako would've been a spitfire and Stacker would've encouraged it, but he also would've reminded her that love is why we fight, not vengeance.

The title quote 'maybe... one day' comes from the graphic novel when Mako asks Stacker if he would teacher her how to pilot a Jaeger and that is his response.
